August 13th, 2015 –– Kudos (www.growkudos.com), which helps maximize the reach and impact of research publications, is pleased to welcome Rebecca Shumbata as the company’s Sales Manager in North America. Rebecca was most recently at Publishing Technology, prior to which she held roles at the New England Journal of Medicine and Cell Press; her background in scholarly and scientific publishing, and her knowledge of the technologies that support research communication, will be a great asset as she works to build uptake in North America of Kudos services for publishers and institutions.

“It’s just over a year since we launched Kudos, and we’ve already been embraced by several prestigious publishers and institutions, as well as more than 10,000 researchers, in North America,” says Charlie Rapple, Sales & Marketing Director and Co-Founder of Kudos. “With our institutional service about to go live, and a range of developments to our publisher services about to be released, it’s the perfect time to be increasing our North American presence and we’re thrilled to have Rebecca on board to help us do that.”

“Kudos is widely recognized as one of the most innovative companies currently serving the research communications sector,” adds Rebecca Shumbata. “I’m inspired by their vision for helping research and researchers to stand out, and excited to take this opportunity to help them achieve that potential.”

Rebecca can be reached on rebecca@growkudos.com or +1 617 237 7797.

Over 60,000 researchers have signed up to use Kudos’ free platform for managing communications around their publications – across multiple publishers and tools. They explain work in plain language and generate trackable links for sharing via email, web and social networks; these enable communications to be directly mapped against views, downloads, altmetrics and citations. Kudos thereby provides researchers, and their publishers and institutions, with a rich understanding of which channels and activities are most effective for broadening reach and impact. Kudos has over 40 publisher customers around the world, including Wiley, Taylor & Francis, Cambridge University Press, the Royal Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the American Academy for the Advancement of Science. The company is also working with institutions including the current and previous “UK University of the Year” (Universities of Birmingham and Huddersfield). Early analysis of Kudos data indicates that the existence of plain language explanations can substantially increase the likelihood of users progressing to read the full text of an article. Kudos was named Best New End User Product at the 2014 Charleston Advisor Readers’ Choice Awards and is a finalist in the 2015 ALPSP Awards for Innovation in Publishing.
