Banner month for Kudos: six new partners, launch of institutional service

October 12th, 2015 –– Kudos (www.growkudos.com), the award-winning service for maximizing the reach and impact of research publications, has achieved further success with five new publishers and one new institution joining in the month of September alone. The company has also launched its new service to provide universities and research institutions with intelligence-based services that will enable them to better amplify, support and learn from researchers’ communications about their work.

New publisher partners include Annual Reviews, the leading publisher of highly-cited reviews; the Association for Computing Machinery, the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society; EDP Sciences, a society STM publisher; Future Science Group, which focuses on breakthrough medical, biotechnological and scientific research; and RCNi, the publishing business of the Royal College of Nursing. The latest participant in Kudos’ institutional program is the Robert Gordon University. This pilot has seen 10 institutions shape the development of the full Kudos for Institutions service, which provides reports about how researchers in an institution are using Kudos to explain their work and manage communications around it, and what effect these efforts have on a range of communication and publication metrics. Kudos thereby enables institutions to take a more strategic approach to increasing the visibility and impact of the work they and their researchers publish. “For the first time, researchers’ outreach activities – whether by email, social media, or elsewhere on the web – are being centrally surfaced so that institutions can see who is actively publicizing their work, and easily undertake their own efforts to support this,” explains David Sommer, Product Director and Co-Founder of Kudos. “These activities are also, uniquely, being mapped directly against downloads, altmetrics and citations, so that institutions can learn which activities and channels are most effective, and optimize their own efforts – and their guidance to researchers – accordingly.”
